Day 1 – Depart home city

Depart your home city on your transpacfic flight towards Australia. 

Day 2 – Day lost in flight

Day is lost in flight due to crossing the International Date Line.

Day 3 – Sydney

Arrive in Sydney and transfer to hotel, expect to arrive at the hotel about noon. Enjoy lunch or join your WestWorld tour director for a leisurely walk to stretch your legs until your room is ready. The rest of the afternoon is free to allow you time to relax & refresh after your journey. This evening, get to know your fellow travellers at the Welcome Reception.

Day 4 – Sydney

A fantastic city tour is planned today which includes the historic Rocks district, Chinatown, Bondi Beach, a guided tour of the landmark Sydney Opera House, and an afternoon Seafood Buffet Harbour Cruise for lunch and a view. Later enjoy some free time.

Day 5 – Blue Mountains

Today you have a full day planned. First, encounter Australia’s native wildlife up close – perhaps feed a kangaroo or cuddle up with a friendly koala at the Sydney Zoo. Then off to the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views and have the opportunity to ride the steepest passenger railway in the world. Lunch is included today.

Day 6 – Sydney to Cairns

Today, fly to Cairns, the gateway to Queensland’s tropical north and the Great Barrier Reef. Tonight, you could check out all the great shopping and food at the night market!!

Day 7 – Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from space, now you can see it up close! A full day adventure is planned, an air-conditioned catamaran cruises you out to Green Island. You can snorkel, view the reef from the glass bottom boat, go for a swim in the crystal-clear water, lounge on the powder white sand beaches or go for an Eco Island walk. A buffet lunch is also included on the island.

Day 8 – Cairns

Today is free day spent at leisure.

Day 9 – Cairns to Uluru (Ayer's Rock)

A morning flight takes us to Australia’s Outback! Uluru is one of Australia’s most recognizable natural icons, and a must-see for many! The afternoon tour includes the equally impressive hike of Kata Tjuta, or the Olgas, as well as a stop at the Culture Centre. This evening, enjoy an unforgettable champagne sunset!!

Day 10 – Uluru to Alice Springs

Early this morning return to Uluru to watch the sunrise and bring colour to this famous rock – this is one sunrise you will not want to miss!! Then it’s back to the hotel for breakfast, before departing on a scenic outback drive to Alice Springs.

This evening experience the solace and tranquility of this harsh land at the Outback BBQ where you have an opportunity to meet with local people to learn their stories of life and survival. Enjoy a boomerang demonstration, listen as a bush balladeer sings timeless Australian songs, hear from local cattlemen and Indigenous people, and have a local astronomer show us this southern night sky! All while enjoying an authentic Australian feast.

Day 11 – Alice Springs to Melbourne

Today, fly to Melbourne but not before a visit to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, an air ambulance service provided to those living in the remote inland areas of Australia.  After arriving in Melbourne, the rest of the day is spent at leisure.

Day 12 – Phillip Island

At only 100 square kilometers, Phillip Island is famous for its nightly Penguin Parade, but first there is so much more to see! Experience true Australian hospitality with a tour and delicious lunch at a local cattle farm. Next, experience koalas in their natural habitat and meet them ‘face to face’ on treetop boardwalks at the Koala Conservation Centre. At sunset, see the penguins emerge from the sea and waddle ashore to their sand dune burrows.

Day 13 – Melbourne

Sleep in this morning, or perhaps enjoy some wandering Melbourne’s beautiful alleys and laneways and pick up some souvenirs along the way. Later today enjoy a city tour followed by an included dinner.

Day 14 – Melbourne to Auckland, New Zealand

Say farewell to Australia as you fly to Auckland, New Zealand. On arrival, head out on a city tour! Spend time learning more about this harbour city, see sights such as the iconic Sky Tower, Viaduct Harbour full of super yachts and Queen street lined with boutiques and cafes. The rest of the day is free to explore Auckland on your own.

Day 15 – Auckland to Rotorua

Departing Auckland, head south towards Waitomo Caves illuminated by the blue hue the glow worms that inhabit the caves make. Afterwards, continue to the Hobbiton Village. Here you tour the enchanting Village of Hobbiton, seen in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Arriving in Rotorua, voted New Zealand’s most beautiful city, stop at Te Puia where you are welcomed with an authentic Kapa Haka performance followed by a tour of the Maori Village, geothermal park and Kiwi Conservation Centre.

Day 16 – Rotorua to Queenstown to Te Anau

This morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Queenstown. On arrival, embark on a city tour of Queenstown. After, depart to Te Anau, otherwise known as the gateway to Fjordland National Park… make sure your cameras are charged, these next few days are something you do not want to forget! There is also an included dinner this evening.

Day 17 – Fjordland National Park to Milford Sound to Queenstown

Journey through Fjordland National Park and out to Milford Sound on one of the most scenic roads you could hope for. Travel through ancient native rainforests, beech forests, alluvial flats and meadows. Stop at Mirror Lakes that perfectly reflect the stunning mountain scenery. Drive through Homer Tunnel emerging on the other side where you are presented with one of the world’s most dramatic alpine drives, down through the Cleddau Valley. Arriving at Milford Sound, depart on a cruise where you meander down the sound, taking in the Bowen and Stirling Falls and the sheer pinnacle of Mitre Peak, rising from the deep waters of the fjord.

Day 18 – Queenstown to Franz Josef

Depart Queenstown this morning and travel to Franz Josef. Another scenic drive but this time it’s all about lakes! First, you are taken to Cromwell, situated next to the sparkling pristine waters of Lake Dunstan, where you stop at a local stone fruit orchard. Continue onwards to the vivid blue waters of Lake Hawea, followed by Lake Wanaka, where the shoreline is charmingly lined by poplars and willows. Following an ancient greenstone trail, you travel over Haast Pass, marking a change from the alpine scenery of the Southern Lakes, to the rainforest marvel of the wild West Coast, stopping at Mt. Aspiring National Park for a relaxing break or a short walk. The final destination for today is the extraordinary rivers of ice that make up Franz Josef Glacier.

Day 19 – Franz Josef to Christchurch

Follow the west coast before heading east through Arthur’s Pass National Park to the small settlement Arthur’s Pass. Here you board the TranzAlpine Train to Christchurch. This spectacular train journey dates to 1914 and is rated as one of the world’s most scenic train trips. The train forges through tunnels and over viaducts with panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, icy rivers, beech forests, gorges and river valleys. 

Day 20 – Christchurch

This morning see how Christchurch is rebuilding after the devastating earthquakes of 2010 and 2011 on this full day city tour. Later this evening, join your Tour Director and travel companions for a Farewell Dinner.

Day 21 – Christchurch to Home

Today you say farewell to Australia and New Zealand and all your new-found friends as you make your way back home to Canada.
