Explore the oldest Amish community in the world as we take a tour through the beautiful Lancaster farmlands and discover the history and heritage of The Amish! Along the way we'll visit iconic attractions such as the Hersey Museum in the world's sweetest little city, Hershey, Pennsylvania. We'll also make stops at several other museum's such as the Warther Museum and the Henry Ford Museum & Factory; you'll have the option to visit the Judy Garland Museum, which contains the largest collection of Garland and Wizard of Oz Collectibles. If you are looking for a completely authentic Amish experience, join us on this blast from the past tour through the heart of Dutch Country!

Activity Level

These are busy tours that feature a lot of moving around. Walking tours of cities are leisurely but you should be prepared to be on your feet for several hours. May include walking on uneven surfaces and steps, including boarding the coach.

Itinerary

Explore the oldest Amish community in the world as we take a tour through the beautiful Lancaster farmlands and discover the history and heritage of The Amish! Along the way we'll visit iconic attractions such as the Hersey Museum in the world's sweetest little city, Hershey, Pennsylvania. We'll also make stops at several other museum's such as the Warther Museum and the Henry Ford Museum & Factory; you'll have the option to visit the Judy Garland Museum, which contains the largest collection of Garland and Wizard of Oz Collectibles. If you are looking for a completely authentic Amish experience, join us on this blast from the past tour through the heart of Dutch Country!

Day 1 – Saskatchewan to Winnipeg

Travel across the Prairies to Winnipeg for our first night.

Day 2 – Winnipeg to Minneapolis

Start heading south today making your way towards the Twin Cities, where you get to know your fellow travellers a bit more at the Welcome Dinner.

Day 3 – Minneapolis to Rockford, IL

A visit to the Wisconsin Dells and a unique boat trip of the Upper Dells is on the agenda for this afternoon. The Upper Dells is the section of river above the dam, you’ll journey northward, cruising through an awesome path cut by ancient glaciers. You’ll pass under pine-crowned cliffs, navigate winding river narrows, and view iconic sandstone formations like Chimney Rock, Blackhawk’s Profile and Romance Cliff.

Day 4 – Rockford to Independence

Today we travel through Illinois, Indiana passing by Lake Michigan and into Ohio.

Day 5 – Independence to Hershey, PA

This morning we travel through Ohio and into Pennsylvania, heading to the Sweetest Place on Earth... Hershey! Upon arrival, hop aboard the trolley for a historic journey through Hershey, the town built on Chocolate.  And of course, how could you visit without a making your own candy bar – from milk to dark and all the varieties in between.

Day 6 – Hershey to Lancaster

This morning, learn all about Hershey’s most inspiring attractions, the story of Milton S. Hershey and the town that bears his name at the Hershey Story Museum. Then travel to Lancaster to meet your local guide who will take you deep into the heart of the oldest Amish Community in the world. For dinner, be our guest at an Amish Wedding Feast where New Order Amish friends will welcome you to a 2-hour celebration. Enjoy a traditional Amish wedding meal, then learn about Amish courtship and wedding preparation. After dinner, take in the Sight & Sound production of David!

Day 7 – Lancaster

The day is yours to explore at your leisure.  You might enjoy taking an Amish buggy ride back in time, to an era before the car, train or plane were ever imagined, and enjoy the beautiful countryside of Lancaster County with its immaculately kept Amish farms and gardens.  In the afternoon you might like to spend time at the Amish Village to experience the Amish way of life.

Day 8 – Lancaster to Surgarcreek

As you travel across the Pennsylvanian countryside into Ohio sit back and watch the beautiful scenery go by. Visit the Warther Museum, home of the World’s Master Carver, Ernest Warther. See his carving collection, the button collection, Swiss gardens and so much more! Enjoy some time to explore Sugarcreek on your own, be sure to check out of the World’s Largest Cuckoo clock or visit the gift shops at our hotel.

Day 9 – Sugarcreek

Begin your Amish Experience today, with a short video about the area. There are many interesting stops today including: an Amish Buggy Artisan, Lehman’s Hardware, an Amish Dry Goods Store and many more.

 

 

 

 

Day 10 – Sugarcreek

Continuing the Amish Experience, visit an Amish Artisan Basket Maker, The Ashery, Heini’s Cheese Factory, an Amish Bakery, Artesian Quilter/ Candle Maker, and end with a home cooked lunch in an Amish home. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure.

Day 11 – Sugarcreek to Frankenmuth

Visit the Henry Ford Museum and step into a world where past innovations fuel the imagination of generations to come.  Tour the Ford Rouge Factory, this is the place where big ideas gain momentum., get an inside look at the making of America’s most iconic truck, the Ford F-150, and immerse yourself in modern manufacturing’s most progressive concepts. Experience the awe-inspiring scale of a real factory floor as you rev up your inner engineer.

Day 12 – Frankenmuth

Today is at leisure, explore Frankenmuth on your own. Get an early start on your Christmas shopping at Bronner’s Christmas Store, your one stop shop for ornaments and everything Christmas! Take a cruise on the Bavarian Belle Riverboat or stroll through the winding cobblestone and charming fairy-tale atmosphere at the Castle Shops.

Day 13 – Frankenmuth to Iron Mountain

As we start to head north, we’ll cross between the Lake Michigan and Lake Huron following Lake Michigan to Iron Mountain for the night.

Day 14 – Iron Mountain to Grand Rapids

Once we arrive in Grand Rapids, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the world’s largest Judy Garland and Wizard of Oz collection on your own.

Join your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner tonight.

Day 15 – Grand Rapids to Winnipeg

Head back into familiar territory today as we enter Canada.

Day 16 – Winnipeg to Saskatchewan

Reminisce with your fellow travellers as we head back home.

Hershey Museum

For well over 100 years the word “Hershey” has ben synonymous with the Great American Chocolate Bar. Explore the history of Hershey in an educational and immersive environment.

Hershey Chocolate World

All aboard for a historic journey through Hershey, the town built on Chocolate. Afterwards, of course, we’ll get to create our own candy bar!

Amish Farmlands Tour

Taking you deep into the heart of the oldest Amish Community in the world. Marvel at some of the most beautiful farmland you’ll ever set eyes upon.

Queen Esther at Sights and Sounds Theatre

Enjoy a matinee of the Sights & Sounds Production of Queen Esther

Amish Experience 2 Day Tour

The World’s largest Christmas Store. The building is 7.35 acres in size and its your one stop shop for ornaments and everything Christmas.

Judy Garland Museum

You'll have the opportunity to visit the world’s largest collection of Judy Garland and Wizard of OZ collection on your own.  Located on 2 acres, visit the restored Historic House, the Children’s Discovery Museum and the beautiful gardens.
