Activity Level

Tours require a greater level of physical activity. Walking tours of cities are leisurely but you should be prepared to be on your feet for several hours and walk longer distances which may be over uneven ground and steps, climb in and out of zodiacs or small boats without assistance. Itinerary

Join John Gormley as you begin this 20-day journey through Southeast Asia in Hanoi, the capital city. Travel down the coast of the South China Sea to Hue, Hoi An and end in Ho Chi Minh City. Enjoy time spent on an overnight cruise in Halong Bay, prepare a traditional dish during a cooking class and take a boat trip down the scenic Mekong Delta. Travel to Siem Reap Cambodia and step back in time to explore many ancient temples, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Angkor Wat and cruise on the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, Tonle Sap.

Day 1 – Home Cities to Vietnam

Fly overnight from Canada to Hanoi, Vietnam - some cities may need to depart the day prior (November 02), depending on air schedule.

Day 2 – Arrive Hanoi, Vietnam

Arrive into Hanoi this evening, transfer to your hotel for the night.

Day 3 – Hanoi

Wake up refreshed and ready to start the day! You have free time to explore the area on your own. This evening tempt your taste buds as you join our local guide for a Walking Food Tour through Hanoi’s largest covered market, Dong Xuan.

Day 4 – Hanoi

Dive into the sights, sounds and smells of Hanoi. Today, we’ll learn more about the cultural diversity of Vietnam by visiting local sites, museums & historical buildings and temples. Enjoy an Included Pho (Vietnamese Noodles) Lunch. This evening attend a Traditional Water Puppet Show dating back thousands of years followed by a Welcome Dinner.

Day 5 – Hanoi to Bai Tu Long Bay

After breakfast, travel to Halong Bay to embark on our Cruise Through Bai Tu Long Bay. Enjoy panoramic natural vistas while cruising to Co Cave where you can hike to the middle of the mountain to see the wild and mysterious beautiful cave. This evening take part in activities onboard the boat or relax on the sundeck.

Day 6 – Bai Tu Long Bay - Hanoi - fly to Hue

Refresh your body and soul with a Tai-Chi session on the sundeck before breakfast. Visit a local fishing village by Bamboo Boat and discover the life of local people living on the surface of Halong Bay. This afternoon take a short flight to Hue.

Day 7 – Hue City Tour

Explore Hue on a Walking Tour of the colorful Dong Ba market. Continue your adventure to the Hue citadel, Cat Tuong Quan Zen House and visit a Nunnery for lunch. After lunch, we’ll continue through stunning rural scenery and stop by an incense stick village. End the afternoon with a relaxing boat ride on the Perfume River. This evening imagine you are Royalty, enjoy a Royal Styled Dinner with Hue Imperial Court Style Music & dance.

Day 8 – Hue - Drive to Hoi An - City Tour

This morning we drive towards the riverside town of Hoi An. Hugging the coastline along the South China Sea provides breathtaking views that grow ever more spectacular as we wind our way up the “Pass of Clouds”.  After checking into the hotel and lunch, join your guide for a Walking Tour through the narrow winding streets of the Ancient Quarter.

Day 9 – Hoi An Cooking Class - Boat Trip

After breakfast, a chef will take you to a colorful market to purchase some ingredients for our Cooking Session. Board the Red Bridge Boat for a leisurely cruise along the Hoi An River.  After the cooking class you we will enjoy a fun ride on a traditional Basket Boat. Learn how to sail the basket boat and spend time catching fish and “purple crabs”.

Day 10 – Hoi An - Danang - Fly to Ho Chi Minh City

Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. The afternoon is at leisure before meeting the group for an authentic Vietnamese Dinner.

Day 11 – Agriculture Village - Cu Chi Tunnels

This morning we head out of the city to a small village. Walk through lush fields and learn about the ingredients used in traditional Vietnamese dishes. After lunch explore the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels. This fascinating tour will give you an insight in how the Viet Cong managed to conceal themselves through the war.

Day 12 – Ho Chi Minh City Tour

Today we discover Ho Chi Minh City on a Guided Tour. Visiting the famous sights such as the Reunification Palace, Post Office, Cathedral of Notre Dame and Chinatown. After lunch in a local restaurant visit the War Remnant Museum and Ben Thanh Market. The remainder of the day is yours to explore.

Day 13 – Mekong Delta Tour

Take a drive down some beautiful country roads to Ben Tre Town in the heart of the Mekong Delta. Watch as we pass rice fields, orchard farms, coconut trees and numerous waterways and beautiful landscapes. Embark on a motorized boat trip around the scenic Ben Tre River, viewing and visiting various local industries along the way. Next take a small Sampan through palm fringed back canals, gliding peacefully along the hidden waterways surrounded by an immense variety of tropical plants. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then travel back to Ho Chi Minh City. This evening join your guide and fellow travellers for an included dinner.

Day 14 – Flight to Cambodia

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia. This evening we enjoy a traditional Cambodian dinner and Apsara Dance Show. Their dance forms an essential part of Khmer culture, when we visit the temples you will notice Apsara Dancers carved into the walls.

Day 15 – Angkor Temples

Today you’ll feel like you’re on a treasure hunt adventure. We’ll visit Angkor Thom and other impressive structures such as Ta Prohm Temple and Bayon Temple. Enjoy a lunch next to Srah Srang Ancient Pool. As we continue exploring, visit Banteay Kdei, Baphoun, Elephant Terrace, Leper King Terrace and the Royal Palace. Finally, head to the Masterpiece, one of the Seven Wonders of the World: Angkor Wat! As the sun approaches the horizon, you’ll enjoy a sunset from the top of the pyramid-shaped temple of Pre Rup.

Day 16 – Sunrise at Angkor Wat and Countryside Tour

If you wish, join us for a picnic breakfast and sunrise at Angkor Wat Temple. Later, we travel towards the 10th century capital, Koh Ker. Whilst there are known to be over 200 temples within the boundaries of this ancient city, only 96 have been discovered thus far. Spend the morning exploring Prasat Thom Temple, much of which is partially buried.  After returning to Siem Reap, the rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 17 – Tonle Sap Lake

Journey past beautiful countryside before embarking on a private sheltered boat to explore Tonle Sap Lake.  It is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and is also an ecological hot spot that was designated as an UNESCO biosphere in 1997. The Cruise takes us past a floating school, mangroves and floating houses.  You will learn about the ecosystem and witness how life works in the floating community.

Day 18 – Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh City

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Ho Chi Minh City. Tonight, join your guide and fellow travellers for a farewell dinner.

Day 19 – Ho Chi Ming City to Home City

Transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Basket Boat

Enjoy a fun ride on the traditional Basket Boat in the Water Coconut Palm Forest. Learn how to sail the basket boat and spend your time catching fishes and "purple crabs" in the Canal.

Cu Chi Tunnels

Get an insight on how the Viet Cong managed to conceal themselves through the war. Have an opportunity to watch a brief introductory documentary that tells of the war from a different perspective which is always interesting. Walk throuh the compound to experience what life was life for the 10,000 Viet Cong who took part in the 1968 Tet Offensive. 

Mekong Delta Day

Arrive at Ben Tre Town where you wil embark on a boat trip around the scenic Ben Tre River, viewing various local industries along the way. Stop and visit the small local factories where bricks and sleeping mats are made. Visit local homes to try dried fruits and taste honey tea while enjoying a local Tai Tu music show. Continue on and visit a coconut mill workshop where the local delicacy of coconut candy and coconut husk and fiver products are skillfully handcrafted. 

Mekong Sampan Tour

Take a small sampan through palm-fringed back canals, gliding peacefully along the hidden waterways surrounded by immense variety of tropical plants. Prasat Thom Temple

Whilst the number of visitors vary, it is not uncommon for us to have the site to ourselves. At the far end of Prasat Thom there is a towering pyramid, somewhat reminiscent of the Mayan or Inca architecture.
