These are busy tours that feature a lot of moving around. Walking tours of cities are leisurely but you should be prepared to be on your feet for several hours. May include walking on uneven surfaces and steps, including boarding the coach.

Day 1 – Flights to Oslo

Overnight flights to Oslo, Norway.

Day 2 – Olso, Norway

Upon arrival into Oslo, we transfer to the hotel, where you have a chance to freshen up and get some rest.  Free time in the afternoon, provides you with the opportunity to enjoy a stroll through the streets, taking in the sites Norway’s capital city has to offer.  Later this evening we get together for our Welcome Dinner.  (D)

Day 4 – Jevnaker – Tyrifjord – Drammensfjord

Today we head north and make our way to Jevnaker, driving through landscapes typical for this part of Norway, with farmland, boreal forests & lakes. Arriving in Jevnaker, we stop at the Hadeland Glassworks Factory where we can walk the factory floor & watch crystal being handblown. Afterwards we continue south to Blåfarveværket, near Tyrifjord. Blaafarveværket is a cobalt factory/mine founded in 1773, now a complex with mine access, museum and national park. En route back to Oslo, we pass Drammen & the view point “Spiralen”, an engineering masterpiece that has been blasted out of the middle of a mountain and descends through 13 spiral curves. (B)

Day 5 – Oslo to Stockholm

We bid farewell to Oslo and make our way to the Swedish border. Crossing into the attractive province of Värmland to arrive in the city of Karlstad on Lake Vänern, the largest lake in Sweden. The day continues through a landscape of forests & sparkling lakes until we reach the Swedish capital. Once checked in, we head out for an evening dinner. (B,D)

Day 6 – Uppsala – Sigtuna

Departing Stockholm, we drive to the small picturesque town of Sigtuna, once the capital of Sweden and one of the oldest towns in the country, with its main streets dating back to the 10th century.  Here we see the charming Lundströmska Gården, an authentic middle-class home & shop preserved from the end of the 19th century, the town hall (one of the smallest in the world) built in the 18th century and the Maria Church dating back to the 13th century.  We continue to Uppsala, a city significant to Sweden’s history.  Drive up castle hill where Uppsala Castle sits, founded by King Gustaf Wasa in the 1540’s, it’s considered the most important memorial of the Wasa period.  Next, we find ourselves in Old Town, where one of the most famous attractions resides – the burial mounds of King Aun, King Egil & King Adils which date back to the 6th century. Day 7 – Stockholm to Copenhagen

After checking out of our hotel, we continue through the pleasant countryside of Southern Sweden to Klarälven near Lake Vättern. Continue through the provinces of Småland and Skåne to the city of Malmö. Crossing over the new Øresund Bridge, we arrive into Copenhagen! (B)

Day 8 – Copenhagen

This morning we depart our hotel for an in-depth city tour of Copenhagen. During the tour, we see sites such as; Amalienborg Palace, Christiansborg Palace, Gefion Fountain, the old harbour of Nyavn, the famous Little Mermaid Statue and much more. We also get to visit the Rosenborg Castle, built in 1633. Not only is Rosenborg an important historical building, it is also a museum of cultural history & houses some of Denmark’s greatest cultural treasures, such as the crown jewels & the Danish Crown regalia. In the evening we walk to Tivoli Gardens – the second oldest amusement park in the world with time to enjoy the various attractions; theatres, concert halls and more. Followed by a 3-course dinner. Day 9 – Hillerød – Helsingør

Today we depart Copenhagen and make our way to North Zealand, land of the castles. Passing through rural villages & wooded, undulated countryside, we arrive at Hillerød, home to Frederiksborg Castle. This beautifully situated Renaissance building was built by the orders of King Christian IV. Today, the castle is the home to the Museum of National History, with collections of priceless paintings, silver & porcelain items, furniture & tapestries. The castle chapel also holds Denmark’s oldest organ installed in 1610. From here, we continue to Helsingør, home to the imposing UNESCO listed Kronborg Castle, the setting of ‘Hamlet’, the dramatic masterpiece by William Shakespeare. After our visit, we travel back to Copenhagen along the coastal road. (B)
