These are busy tours that feature a lot of moving around. Walking tours of cities are leisurely but you should be prepared to be on your feet for several hours. May include walking on uneven surfaces and steps, including boarding the coach.

Day 1 – Home cities to Winnipeg, MB

We’re heading East! Farewell Saskatchewan; hello Manitoba!

Day 2 – Winnipeg to Thunder Bay, ON

Leaving the prairies behind, we cross the border into Ontario. This evening you’ll attend a welcome reception with your fellow travellers.

Day 3 – Thunder Bay to Cochrane

Today we make our way toward Cochrane for the night.

Day 4 – Cochrane to Ottawa

Travelling south we arrive in the Capital City this afternoon!

Day 5 – Ottawa

Our day starts with a visit to the RCMP Stables, home of the world famous RCMP Musical Ride. You will have the opportunity to walk through the stables and meet horses and riders. The rest of the day is at leisure. Tonight, enjoy the Canada Day fireworks from many great viewpoints near the hotel.

Day 6 – Board Cruise Ship

This morning, take a city tour of Historic Ottawa before we board The Canadian Empress for the next five nights. Once aboard, the Captain will welcome you with a reception, followed by a Harbour cruise of Canada’s Capital. Following a delicious dinner, enjoy the entertainment onboard this evening.

Day 7 – Cruising

Departing Quebec, head back to Ontario. Once docked in Cumberland, explore the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum. As you continue on, docking in Montebello enjoy a visit to Omega Animal Wilderness. This evening, join the get acquainted party and the cruise directors “Fun with Trivia”.

Day 8 – Cruising

Bound for the St. Lawrence River, pass through the Carillon lock, the Power Dam (a 65-foot lift) and the Ste. Anne de Bellevue lock before sailing along the south shore of opulent Montreal Island and South Shore Canal before arriving in the Montreal borough of Lachine. Debark for a guided bus tour of Montreal. This evening take pleasure in the unique character of old Lachine.

Day 9 – Cruising

Departing Lachine and heading towards Upper Canada Village, you will pass through the Eisenhower and Snell Locks into Lake St. Lawrence. During free time this evening, you might enjoy taking a stroll through the marina and grounds at Crysler Park Marina in Upper Canada.  

Day 10 – Cruising

Keeping anchor, embark on a miniature train and horse-drawn wagon tour of Upper Canada Village. As you make your way further up the river, debark at Prescott, and tour Fort Wellington. Your home for tonight will be Brockville (the city of the 1000 islands). Shine-up those dancing shoes for this evening’s entertainment and enjoy the music performed by a live band onboard.

Day 11 – Disembark Cruise in Kingston

Transfer this morning by bus for a tour of Fulford Mansion, then sail through the 1000 islands & Millionaires’ Row, visiting the 1000 Island Tower at Ivy Lea. Depart Ivy Lea for more Island and for Kingstone views and learn about the statue of Saint Laurens. Say farewell and disembark in Kingston.

Day 12 – Kingston

This morning a local guide joins us for a highlights tour of Kingston. Afterwards, we explore, in more depth, some of the historical sites such as Fort Henry UNESCO World Heritage Site and Bellevue House National Historic Site (the former residence of Canada’s first Prime Minister – Sir John A MacDonald).

Day 13 – Kingston to Niagara Falls

Saying goodbye to Kingston, we make our way towards the big city of Toronto where we enjoy a guided tour and a visit to the CN Tower before making our way to Niagara Falls.

Day 14 – Niagara Falls

Be prepared to get a little wet today as you get up close and personal with the falls on the Voyage to the Falls Boat Tour. This sturdy vessel takes us to the base of the falls where water thunders all around. These tours have operated continuously since 1846! We meet a local guide this afternoon for a tour of the town.

Day 15 – Niagara Falls to St. Jacobs

Enjoy the scenery as you make your way to Niagara on the Lake for a guided tour of the area and make a stop at one of Niagara’s vineyards to enjoy a wine tasting! After, depart the beautiful Niagara region and travel to St. Jacobs.

Day 16 – St. Jacobs

Acquire Mennonite history and culture at the Mennonite Story Interpretive Centre this morning. Enjoy some free time to explore St. Jacob’s and have lunch on your own, before embarking on a guided tour of the area travelling past Mennonite farms, schoolhouses, meeting houses, farm stands and much more.

Day 17 – St. Jacobs to Sault Ste. Marie

Today continue travelling North until you reach Sault Ste. Marie, our stop for the night.

Day 18 – Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay

Follow the coastline of spectacular Lake Superior on our way to Thunder Bay. There will be plenty of opportunities to stop for photos along the way.

Day 19 – Thunder Bay to Winipeg, MB

As we head back into familiar territory, we bid farewell to some of our fellow passengers along the way.   

Day 20 – Winnipeg to Saskatchewan

The final stretch home for all the Saskatchewan-bound passengers.

Day 21 – The Canadian Express Ship Information

The Canadian Empress is a grand ship with a warm friendly personality, and the size and design of the
vessel serves to enhance the intimacy of river cruising. The exterior of the ship emulates the classic
steamboats of the Victorian era, while the interior is a mix of charming early heritage style, with brass
handrails and ornate metal ceilings, and contemporary fashion.
This classic riverboat style is combined with modern technology to provide all the safety, comfort and
amenities expected by today’s travellers. All staterooms are above the waterline and include daily maid
service.
*The Canadian Empress is only equipped with stairs between decks. Persons with mobility issues should
contact your travel agent about stateroom accessibility.
Gratuities onboard the ship are not included, and we recommend $12-$14 per person, per day.

Omega Animal Wilderness

Established in 1985, Omega Park opened its doors in 1991. The origianl concept of the park was a place to discover North American wildlife in a spectacular 2200 acres site set in the natural scenery of the Outaouais region. What sets Omega Park apart from the traditional zoos are the large natural spaces of over 2000 acres which are home to over twenty species of animals living in their natural environment.

Tour of Fort Wellington

First built during the War of 1812 to defend the St. Lawrence River shipping route from attack by the United States, Fort Wellington also helped thwart another American invasion during the 1837-38 Upper and Lower Canada rebellions. Explore the wreck of an 1812-era gunboat, try on a costume and take part in military drill, witness a cannon firing, savour period treats cooked over an open fire, or play games from long ago. 

Fulford Mansion

Fulford, explore the grand Fulford Mansion and marvel at the many original family furnishings. Stroll through the restored Olmsted Brothers gardens and immerse yourself in Ontario's rich heritage. 

1000 Island Tower

Enjoy breathtaking views from the 1000 Islands Tower, seeing the 1000 islands that dot the St. Lawrence River. Running continuously, the elevator takes only 40 seconds to reach the first of three observation decks and provides visitors with a spectacular photographic opportunity as you enjoy the panoramic view of the 1000 islands and St. Lawrence River stretching out 130 meters (400ft) below. 

Fort Henry UNESCO World Heritage Site

Built between 1832-1837, Fort Henry is situated atop Point Henry, the fort protected the naval dockyard at Point Frederick, the entrance of the Rideau Canal and the town of Kingston, which was the major trans-shipment point along the supply route between Montreal, Ottawa and all points west. 

Bellevue House National Historic Site

Built to house the wealthy and powerful of Canada's first capital, Bellevue House represents the 1840s colonial system of class and privilege. This is where Parks Canada tells the full scope of Sir John A. Macdonalds story. 

CN Tower

Defining the Toronto skyline at 553.33 meters (1,815ft), the CN Tower is Canada's most recognizable and celebrated icon.
